The Shear Comfort Neonatal & Paediatric Overlay provides comfort for babies and toddlers delicate skin.
The Neonatal Overlay is the perfect size for newborns as it is small enough size-wise to place in an incubator, cot or moses basket to protect your babies skin and help them sleep soundly.
For older babies or toddlers, the Paediatric Overlay fits perfectly in a pushchair, cot bed or even on the floor for a cosy patch of Sheep’s wool to rest and play on.
There have been a number of studies conducted that illustrate the benefits for babies sleeping on and underwool. The rate of weight gain in underweight newborns was 61% higher when sleeping on a wool overlay compared with a cotton sheet. Jaundiced newborns sleeping on wool were more settled when sleeping compared with those on cotton. Only around 30% of babies on wool cried compared with 67% on cotton.
Made from XD1900, this is medical sheep’s wool unique to Shear Comfort, with a fibre density higher than even the very best natural sheepskins – which gives it superior pressure redistribution properties. Providing the ideal microclimate for a good sleep, looking after temperature and perspiration regulation, with the excellent air redistribution properties of a wool product.
Made with natural properties of fabric-backed medical sheepskin wool, unique to Shear Comfort, ensures that comfort and protection are provided. The moisture dissipation qualities of the wool ensure any perspiration is effectively wicked away from the skin.
All Shear Comfort products are machine washable and are guaranteed against deterioration for up to 50 washes. Both styles are available to purchase in white and blue. The neonatal measures 50 x 30cm and the Paediatric measures 74 x 45cm.

Washing Instructions
Machine washable up to 80 degrees Celsius
The fabric-backed material on which the wool is woven makes it easy to wash up to 80 degrees Celsius – for a hygienic wash.
Shear Comfort XD1900 does not require special shampoo, and can be washed with normal household detergent up to a temperature of 80°C, although you can use Shear Comfort Wool Care Shampoo to condition the wool and utilise the fungicidal and mitricidal properties of the shampoo.
50 washes guaranteed
Shear Comfort XD1900 products have a warranty of up to 50 washes when following the manufacturer’s washing instructions.
Drying Instructions
To air-dry Shear Comfort footwear or targeted protectors, release all fastenings and place fleece-side down on a drying rack and away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
